Sorry, I’ve just checked out some posts. Apparently purplera1n provides you with the iBSS only. The TEMP method allows us to obtain both the iBSS and iBEC. I’ll change that post in a jiffy. Thanks!

Sorry, but just to correct you DR, it is the exact same thing. We already have the ECID, but with purplera1n it stores the iBEC and iBSS files into a dump for future use. The iBEC and iBSS obtained from the TEMP is the same thing. I’ll try and get more information on this and then get back to you, but for now I believe what I said is correct. Thanks for the heads up though!

Correction: this is not “another way to obtain the exact same thing”. This is another step required for 3GS owners to be sure to jailbreak and unlock in the future. purplera1n is to get ECID. This TEMP method is to get the iBEC and iBSS files.
